The Janus family of tyrosine kinases (Jak1, Jak2, Jak3 and Tyk2) are activated by ligands binding to a number of associated cytokine receptors. Upon cytokine receptor activation, Jak proteins become autophosphorylated and phosphorylate their associated receptors to provide multiple binding sites for several signaling proteins, such as Stats, Shc, and focal adhesion kinase (FAK). Thus, Jak kinases are important downstream mediators of cytokine signaling pathways.

Western blot of mouse brain lysate. The blot was probed with mouse monoclonal anti-Jak1 (Central region) antibody at 1:250 (lane 1) or 1:1000 (lane 2).

Clone (M338) was generated from a sequence corresponding to amino acids in the central region of mouse Jak1. This sequence has high homology to human and rat Jak1.
